ConvictingTheInnocent
BRANDON L. GARRETT, author of Convicting
the Innocent: Where Criminal Prosecutions Go
Wrong, examined the records of 250 people who
were exonerated by DNA evidence after spending
an average of 13 years in prison, including
seventeen who were on Death Row. He shows
that the wrongful convictions were not exceptions,
but resulted from practices that the courts rely on
every day. Brandon Garrett is a professor at the
University of Virginia School of Law.

IslamQALISON WEIR, on "Israeli Video
Games in Gaza," exposing the war
crimes committed with drones in
recent attacks against Palestinians.
A pro-Israeli writer bragged, "With
the possible exception of the United
States, Israel is the country most
closely identified with UAV [drone]
operations in the post-World War II
period." Alison Weir is president of
the Council for the National Interest

Ready...Set...BAsics Plan to Shake Up and Wake Up the Campus

It is a time of churning in the world. All of this objectively is counterposed to
people's belief in the permanent necessity of existing conditions-and potentially
constitutes fertile soil for questioning, for seeking answers to why things are the

the world needs and is ready for BAsics-as a critical and leading edge of a whole
revolutionary ensemble, to crack all of this open, to spark and foster much-needed
political and intellectual ferment, to bring these questions to the fore, to shake up
and wake up the campuses, to forge a revolutionary pole and a different ethos.
